My first "official" post-collegiate track meet is in the books!!!! I competed at the 2010 Niswonger Invitational which was held at East Tennessee State University this past weekend!
I ran in the Invitational 60 and 200. During my collegiate running days, I only participated in the 60 to score points towards the team Championship; I just so happened to take home the Gold a few times in the event! Anyways, my PR in the event is 6.75.
After a serious of false starts and block mishaps in both the prelims and finals of the 60, I took 3rd place in the event! My start was terrible as I was left in the blocks and had to make up ground fast!
Prelims of the 200 went very well! Again my start was not like I wanted it to be! I made my move late entering the curve (yeah the race started in the straight-away). I ended up running a 21.5.
Finals went well. AGAIN I had a Terrible start and it was known through the crowds participation. I had the fastest time so I was placed in lane 5 with the 2nd fastest seed behind me in lane 4! He approached me fast about 50 meters down the straight-away due to my inaccurate start, but my 400 meter endurance took over as I blasted the last 50 to 60 meters to take the win in a time of 21.34 (I think the official time read 21.39) but I'll take it!
I think this ranks 7th in the world on an over-sized track for the season thus far!
Overall, I was pleased with my performance in the 200! I didn't really put too much energy and time into the 60 race because that's not one of my premier events!
Keys so more success based off this weekend: emphasis on reaction time and starting; remaining focused after others mistakes (ex. False starts).
