Just wanted to give you an update on how the first meet went...
Name: 17th International Peugeot Meeting Flanders Cup
Place: Sint-Niklaas, Belgium
Events: 400m & 200m
Comments:
- Traveling to Europe... I can always adjust to going back in time as far as time zones go, but I never knew that going ahead of your normal time would be so difficult and stressful on one's body. I am still recovering from the "jet lag", but I will be 100% soon. It was a 9hr flight from Raleigh, NC. I came in with prior knowledge from my friends that run professional. Some told me about the jet lag and how it could set you back initially. I even tried acclimating to the time zone by adjusting to it back home for a week. Clearly that didn't work!
- The competition today/my results... I treated today like a workout in preparation for my HUGE meet on Saturday. Again the jet lag was still there but overall I was pleased with my performances to day. In the 400m, I cruised to a 47.48 to take the first place spot. Body was sore even throughout my warmup, so I knew the results in the end would reflect that. In the 200m, I ran a season best 20.85 into a -1.3 headwind. I also ran out of lane 7 (8-lane track) and it was only an hour after my 400m race. I picked the victory here as well.
In all, I am 2 for 2 in International Competition. Today was a great day and I am certain things will look up from. God is continually blessing me over and over and I can't thank Him enough. Tomorrow I take a train to the city of AALST to run in the IFAM Meeting Oordegem; running the 200 and 400 there on Saturday.
Thanks and GodSpeed,
